0fe837b448 module_shutdown() calls ts_free_thread in ZTS mode. so SG() cannot be accessed

36be1040eb Use synchronous php_request_shutdown in the standard case and 
let the pool cleanup function only become effective, when an
error has occured.

This fixes the problem that the request_conn was already dead
when the request_shutdown was reached.

d5cf0abac3 Make the FastCGI module behave nicer when trying to shut it down. If you 
kill the parent process, then it will kill all its kiddies for you.
Also, now refuses to run as a CGI (since it doesn't work that way), and
corrected a few debug messages.

ba49860cc8 fix for bug 6491, http://www.php.net/bugs.php?id=6491, removes a bit of 
(what I think is) broken logic.

#  This is as discussed on the mailing list previously.  This change
#  does fix the problem, however, the extra code was in there for a
#  reason (I'm guessing :), i'm ready to revert this patch in a jiffy
#  if someone has a good reason why that (just removed) extra logic
#  should be in there.

466c226415 Revert mega patch. 
This patch has at least the following deficiences:

- the CGI is built using objects from another SAPI module.
  This usually results in unsatisfied symbol references.
- the CGI makefile is not created properly
- building CGI cannot be disabled

* replaced --disable-pear with --with-pear=DIR (or --without-pear),
  is backwards compatible
* use --datadir, --libdir and --sysconfdir configure options to determine

4549e389bb Fix a bug with POST requests. If the Content-Type header wasn't present, 
we were setting SG(request_info).content_type to NULL, instead of
an empty string. This was stopping PHP from processing the data.

large chunks of code ripped from the cgi module. Also modifies
Makefile.in and configure.in in order to make it build properly.

- Fix crash - wait on the threads themselves, not on Event objects.
  It takes time between the time a thread signals the event, and the
  time it actually terminates (shutdown code) - so FreeLibrary() and

7f96af83b2 Stop automatically passing vars to AC_SUBST through PHP_SUBST. 
There are some variables which are needed for Makefiles and files
created by AC_OUTPUT; we use PHP_SUBST_OLD for those now.

315f4f5658 @PHP 3 regression testing framework re-born (Stig) 
Took the old PHP 3 regression testing framework and rewrote it in PHP.
Should work on both Windows and UNIX, however I have not tested it on
Windows.  See tests/README for how to write tests.  Added the PHP 3
tests and converted most of them.

1d68a02df3 The status quo in PHP is that the current directory is initialized 
to the directory where the executing script is located.

Since this needs to be implemented for all SAPI modules anyway, this
change moves the functionality to php_execute_script() and gets rid
of the per-module code.

76a2d2538c Heads up! I have moved the headers_only and response_code checks out of 
SAPI and down into the individual SAPI modules.  I have made the
appropriate changes in all the SAPI modules, but please verify these.
The reason for this change is that Apache sometimes will feed PHP
a request_method of GET but have r->header_only set to true.  This happens
in an ErrorDocument redirect.  In this same scenario we want to preserve
the status code as well instead of just overwriting it with a 200 and
losing this information.  For now the other sapi modules act exactly as
before since they probably do not make this distinction, and they may
not even have a valid response code this early in the request.
@ Fix HEAD request bug on an Apache ErrorDocument redirect and preserve
@ the status code across the redirect as well.  (Rasmus)

an array that contains an object and a method name, in place of a function
  name, e.g. usort($array, array($obj, "ObjSort"))
(I checked the code in array.c and basic_functions.c, other code which uses
call_user_function() may still force the function_name argument to be of type
IS_STRING, which prevents this feature from working - and is no longer necessary)

c6449f307a Altered NSAPI autoconf to check for location of include files automatically, tested for Netscape 3.x and iPlanet 4.x. 
Added very basic variable support for usefull things such as PHP_SELF. I'll extend this to supply this rest of the variables soon.
Commited a patch to activate ZTS in the NSAPI module, this patch comes from
Jayakumar Muthukumarasamy.

6d0ab6166c SAPIfication, Episode VI: Return of the SAPI 
Remove mostly all references to APACHE and CGI_BINARY from the code.

- Apache include files are no longer included by any PHP code, except for the Apache SAPI module.
- No server specific code is in any of the base PHP code.

Still left to be done:
- Eliminate any references to APACHE from the few remaining modules.
- Move request_info.c's logic to SAPI
- Modify the regex function names, and globals, so that we can always
  include them, without having to fear any interference with Apache;
  Always use the bundled regex library

9ab35ae393 Tried to centralize global variable registration as much as possible: 
- Added $HTTP_ENV_VARS[] and $HTTP_SERVER_VARS[] support, which similarly
  to $HTTP_GET_VARS[], contain environment and server variables.  Setting
  register_globals to Off will now also prevent registration of the
  environment and server variables into the global scope (Zeev)
- Renamed gpc_globals to register_globals (Zeev)
- Introduced variables_order that deprecates gpc_order, and allows control
  over the server and environment variables, in addition to GET/POST/Cookies

56a5e84f9d Add SAPI module for thttpd server. Quote from the README: 
This is a SAPI module for PHP 4.0 supporting thttpd, the tiny,
    turbo, throttling HTTP server by Jef Poskanzer.

    The module contains a patch against version 2.10 of thttpd. The patch
    adds hooks to thttpd to call PHP, if a filename matches *.php. This
    patch will be applied when you install PHP.

    While functional, this module exists primarily to demonstrate the
    ability of PHP to work in almost every web server environment.

35b30a8d0c Add reentrant versions of ctime, localtime, gmtime, asctime. 
These cannot be implemented platform-independent, so we fall back to the native
non-reentrant versions, but lock during each access (only if ZTS is used).

To initialize/destroy the used data structures, you need to call
reentrancy_startup() before sapi_startup(), and reentrancy_shutdown() after
sapi_shutdown().

353686c9c5 Now ZTS can be used. Unless --enable-roxen-zts is specified at the 
configure line the default process global Roxen PHP lock will be
used. In tests this was a lot faster for some reason and until the
reasons are figured out, it's recommended to use the non-thead-safe
version.

bcb2214e99 Improve regex library selection. It lets user specify whether they want 
system, apache, or php's regex library by using the --with-regex option.
"php" is the default; if you use --with-apache in combination with
Apache 1.3.x, the default is "apache".

3dc7757a99 Remove the extra INCLUDES line from most automake Mafiles. This is not

and php_regex.h figures out which regex header files to include and
defines symbols that prevents other stuff from including the wrong versions

1cb0d88186 Decent configure speedup. Makefiles are now generated only for the 
extensions you are including.  Got rid of configure.in.in.
Moved the last Apache-specific files into sapi/apache and made both
static and DSO build work again (it still doesn't run properly).

2a854ca8b9 Generalized server-API build process on UNIX. Each SAPI 
implementation now has its own directory under sapi/, just like
extensions have theirs under ext/.  To make the final targets appear
in the main dir, the top-level Makefile includes sapi/NN/Makefile.inc
from the selected sapi backend.  This is a plan Makefile stub without
any autoconf substitutions.  Each SAPI backend also has its own
config.m4 like extensions (read at the end of diversion 2) and
config.h.stub files.

Each SAPI backend has to contain:

config.m4: just like for extensions, this file contains
autoconf/automake directives that end up in the configure script.  The
only difference is that the sapi config.m4 files are read in diversion
(output block) 2 instead of 3.  The sapi config.m4 files should set
two variables: PHP_SAPI (which sapi backend to choose) and SAPI_TARGET
(the name of the resulting library or program, previously BINNAME).
If they are not specified, they will default to "cgi" and "php",
respectively.

Makefile.inc: has to exist, has to define "INSTALL_IT" to the command
used to install the final target (or ":" for no operation).  It also
has to define a plain Makefile rule (without autoconf substitutions)
to build $(SAPI_TARGET)

Makefile.am: just what you think.  Make sure your target is called
"libphpsapi_NNN.a", where NNN is the value of PHP_SAPI.

Some testing and fixing probably remains.  To make everything hang
together, I've done some ugly tricks that I can imagine causing some
problems.  I've built and run the CGI version and built the Apache
DSO.
